PAGB Inter-Club Print Championship 2003

Hurrah!! Well done!!

PAGB Inter-Club Print Championship 2003

Last Spring Ordnance Survey PS and Disabled PS were the top two clubs in the print SPF league finals, and were invited to represent the Federation in the National club championships run by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, which took place at Connah's Quay, Deeside last October 25th.

Each Federation sent their top two clubs plus the previous year's winners and runners up. The competition was fierce, but good humoured, and the standard exceptionally high., with photos from some of the top photographers in the country. Our two clubs had a wonderful time and enjoyed a variety of superb prints.

After the first round the top 8 clubs competed for the Championship which was won by Southport . The rest compete for the Terry Chapman plate. To my great delight this was won by Ordnance Survey PS, so Congratulations to them! Well Done!!
This is a real triumph especially for such a small club.  See below for a further report and some of the pictures used.

Not only this, but one member won a silver medal awarded by one of the judges, Ricci O'Neill, for one print.

In January the OSPS are running the SPF Print Championships at the Crosfield Hall Romsey. It should be a good day, and even if your club is not taking part it will be well worth coming to see some of the best prints in this region. So I hope to see you there!
The top two clubs of this event will be invited to represent the SPF at next October's PAGB club Championships.

Each of the 15 Federations in the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB)  can nominate two clubs to represent them in these Championships. In addition the top three clubs from the previous year automatically qualify (33 clubs in all). All clubs take part in Round One by submitting 12 prints to be marked by 3 judges. The top eight clubs qualify for the Final, the rest compete in the Plate.

At the end of the first round the Southern Federation's two clubs were Disabled Photographers who were twelfth and Ordnance Survey who were fifteenth. Both then competed in the Plate with Disabled Photographers coming fourth and Ordnance Survey winning it (so following Bournemouth who won the Plate last year).
