After a splendid family Christmas and New Year life became hectic again with many interesting pictures to see.

The Opening of the SPF exhibition in Salisbury was well attended and the quality of images shown appreciated. These pictures were just as the clubs sent them and none culled as in most exhibitions, so it was a true representation of club photography. It proves yet again that Photography is alive and thriving in the South,

Thank you Bill Flood and Geoff Kelland for organising the show, and the team that came to hang and dismantle the exhibition. It was no small task but well done.

The Club Print Championship on January 25th was a new venture and very successful. We are grateful to Ordnance Survey Photographic Society for running the day. Their organising skills helped the event to run smoothly, and well done indeed. Thank you David and Maureen Toft and their team. Cliff and Marion Thompson FRPS 's from Midland Counties Federation, and Derek Dorsett FRPS from Dorchester were the judges who had a long day of intense concentration.

Now we have the next round of the league to look forward to.

None of these competitions can take place without SPF judges so we hope for more people to try out assessing pictures and may be even enjoy it, and want to be a judge. Do come along to Valley Park Community Centre on March 14 th .

The Roll of Honour is doing well with several nominations. I am pleased to announce that 4 people have been approved to join the "Roll of Honour". They are Robin Millard of Guernsey, Sheila Brough of Hayling Island , Richard Temlett of Salisbury and Keith Polwin of Basingstoke . They have worked long and tirelessly for club and Federation and well deserve to be thanked in this way. They received parchment certificate and also their names are entered in our records kept my George Walsh our records Officer.

If you know of someone you think deserves mention do apply for a nomination form.

It is good to see some new pictures coming up on our web competition and there is plenty of room for more.

Clubs should soon receive an up-dated calendar, with deadlines on for joining Federation events etc. I do hope this will be a help.

It has been decided, with agreement of the Quarterly meeting, to formulate guidelines as to job descriptions within club committees. New committee members may not know what is expected of them, so we hope this will be helpful. I hope they will be complete before the rounds of club AGMs at the end of the Season.

The next quarter looks like being as busy as the last with the Semi finals and Finals of the Knock Out League coming up. That should be another good day out and splendid images to see.

Don't forget you can send prints to be considered for the PAGB annual print exhibition, either at Finals day or the May quarterly or to me directly. They will be sent off in late May.

Happy Snapping
Anne
