I think the conversations of Photographers and Fishermen have many similarities. There is always the tale of the one that got away. Or in the case of holiday snaps the tale of the one that the driver would not or could not stop for. That is surely the award-winning photo! We seemed to be hastening past gorgeous views or intriguing corners when we were late for meals, and that was when the light was at its best. Hey well that is life!
During the summer break your council have been beavering away preparing for the new Season of Photo clubs. Ernie in particular has produced a very impressive handbook. Thank you Ernie and the numerous people who have helped checking data.
As a result of the appeal at the AGM for more Council members we have co-opted two volunteers and I formally welcome Lyn Lambeth and Ian Biggs to our number. Lyn has volunteered to oversee the catering at our events, so vacuum flasks of coffee will not be required.
We still would like more Council members to share the responsibilities, especially for organising our events.
As a result of last season response to the "On Line " competition it has been decided to hold another one in the Spring, starting in January and finishing in April. So there is time to sort out your entries.
It is my particular pleasure to congratulate 4 Federation members on gaining their CPAGB distinctions and I have the honour of presenting Certificates to Barbara Holder, Marion Smith, Diana Driver, and Peter Smith.
Keep watching these pages for news of our activities. The Slide Championship entries need to be on by the end of the month, and then there is the Image Appreciation day on October 10 th , which should be good. Do join in and enjoy expanding your photography.
